Pursuit of Happiness

Most free countries in the world make the promise of providing their citizens with Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. I think the wording is interesting. We all have Life, and hopefully we are all ensured that Life. Liberty is sometimes tricky to dispense but I think there's quite a lot of it in the world. A fact of which I am very grateful for. But that last item on the list...
It reads as the Pursuit of Happiness because happiness can't be guaranteed by anyone or any government.

Frankly it's a little frustrating that happiness has to be pursued. I'd much rather it was handed out in large quantities. I wish happiness would come looking for me than me looking for it. It's much better at hide and go seek than I am.

I wish I knew how to be happy. I've never considered myself a happy person for as long as I can remember, I don't even know how to go about "pursuing" happiness.

It's tricky. For all I know I'm doing it wrong. I make efforts to be happy but usuallyI feel like the proverbial dog barking up the wrong tree.

It's funny the movie,"The Pursuit of Happiness" tries to tackle this very subject. You know the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Their ideas are a little different than mine on how you actually pursue happiness, but something more than ordinary I know you and I think i have a pretty good grasp on how you think. Brotha the times you do pursue happiness it seems you put a leash on yourself. It's like a dog that has been in stuck in the house it's whole life, when let out will run all over sniffing and getting familiar with whats close then moving out to the world around it. You take a lot of time getting familiar with whats close to you. Your getting outside, but not allowing yourself to experience all the world has to offer. Now I don't know if you really want that because the world is not always a great place, but you already know that so there will be know surprises. I think pursuing happiness is experiencing everything the world has to offer. We only have a limited time here and what comes next is unknown to most the world. So if what I believe is next isn't exactly correct I'm going to be glad I experienced what I did.

Well thanks. I was trying to go through this post without mentioning the Will Smith movie. That dream is over now. (Just kidding)

Dog on a leash huh. Well there may be something to that. This dog has been kicked quite a lot for trying to go out into the world. It's like I'm afraid of some invisible shock collar fence. I know I can go so far, but if I venture any further I might recieve pain. Now maybe there is no invisible fence, or shock collar. But how am I supposed to know that? I'm just a dog.
